NOAA Predicts Hot Summer for Much of Nation — Drought Seen Persisting Through the Summer

NOAA has just published its 3-month temperature prediction for June, July, and August. As shown below, the southern two-thirds of the nation is predicted to have enhanced odds of higher than normal temperatures. The Southwest in particular looks to be in for a real scorcher, with a 50% enhanced probability of above normal summer-time temperatures.
NOAA’s Drought Outlook through August is shown below, showing that drought conditions in significant sections of the US are expected to continue through the summer.
