Turf Screen controls algae too!

“Having managed turf grass from Dallas, Texas all the way to the east coast I would have to say this was one of the most difficult summers we have endured. The rains started early in June and it seemed like each time we were able to dry the greens back out another monster rain would set us back.
Turf loss was not really a question of if, but how to minimize the turf you would lose. I was trying to use all of the mechanical tools to manage algae; light topdressing, hand spiking and so on but we were losing the battle. It became quite clear that we were going to have to take a more aggressive approach.
…keeping (Turf Screen) in the rotation during these difficult rainy periods left him not having to battle the algae…”
After many expensive high rate fungicide applications I put in a call to one of my fellow superintendents to seek his feedback. He told me that he had been using Turf Screen over this past season for a host of benefits, but had found that keeping it in the rotation during these difficult rainy periods had left him not having to battle the algae and allowed him to recover damaged turf in a much quicker time frame.
Having tried everything and the kitchen sink we applied Turf Screen in combination with our weekly spoon feed and the result were clear in 48 hours. The algae began to dry and crack and we were able to remove by spiking and hand blowing the surface. Clearing these areas allowed us to apply seed, light topdress and begin the recovery process.
…after the season of 2011 we are hands down clear that Turf Screen will be a key part of our management strategy going forward.”
At the close of every year I like to take one or two things that I have learned and make it part of our program going forward. Most years we have to look hard but after the season of 2011 we are hands down clear that Turf Screen will be a key part of our management strategy going forward.
Thank you for bringing this excellent product to our market and keep up to good work because 2011 might be history but history has a way of repeating its self.
